Terms of Service

1. The service

Scriber generates text transcripts of YouTube videos you provide. Transcripts are produced either from a video's existing captions or, when none exist, by transcribing its audio. Accuracy is not guaranteed and depends on the source audio and captions.

2. Plans and billing

Every browser gets 3 free transcripts. Beyond that you may buy one-time credits (which do not expire) or subscribe to the Pro monthly plan. Speaker labels are available on paid plans only. Payments are processed by Stripe. Subscriptions renew monthly until cancelled; you can cancel anytime and keep access through the end of the paid period. One-time credit purchases are non-refundable except where required by law.

3. The Pro plan's monthly quota

The Pro plan includes 30 videos per calendar month. The counter resets on the 1st of each month (UTC). If you use the full quota, transcription continues from any one-time credits on your account, or pauses until the next month. We may adjust limits for accounts that show automated, resold, or otherwise abusive usage. These limits exist because each transcription has a real underlying compute cost.

4. Acceptable use

You are responsible for having the right to transcribe the content you submit, and for complying with YouTube's Terms of Service and applicable copyright law. Do not use Scriber to access private, restricted, or unlawful content, or to build a competing bulk transcription service.

5. Your data

If you use Scriber without an account, we do not store your transcripts. The text is generated, returned to your browser, and not kept. We store only a cookie identifying your browser and the counters needed to apply the free tier and any credits you buy.

If you sign in, transcripts you generate are saved to your account so you can find them again. You can delete any of them at any time from your history, which removes them from our systems. Contact us if you want your whole account and its data deleted.

We use your email address only to send sign-in links and messages about the service, never marketing from third parties, and we do not sell your data. Payment details are handled entirely by Stripe and never reach our servers.

6. No warranty

The service is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

7. Changes

We may update these terms as the service evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above.
